About the Role

A leading precision engineering company is seeking a Production Engineer to join their team in Leeds. This position is perfect for a time-served engineer with strong expertise in CAD/CAM, five-axis machining, and a thorough understanding of GD&T. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the role focuses on optimising production processes, supporting CAD/CAM programming, and preparing to transition into a production control-focused position.


Key Responsibilities

  • Maximise production efficiency and minimise waste.
  • Create and optimise CNC programs, with a focus on five-axis machining.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to prepare quotations for new products.
  • Train and mentor the engineering team, supporting their development in production control.
  • Improve setup times and ensure optimal machine utilisation.
  • Evaluate bills of materials and oversee production documentation.
  • Champion safety and quality best practices across all operations.


Key Requirements

  • Recognised engineering apprenticeship qualification (time-served).
  • Strong understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
  • Extensive knowledge of CAD/CAM, ideally FeatureCAM.
  • Experience with five-axis machining is essential.
  • Experience machining exotic materials is advantageous.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and an interest in transitioning into production control.
