Elevation are excited to be supporting a reputable manufacturing business based in Leeds, who are expanding their team with an experienced Production Engineer. I am looking to speak with individuals who can interpret 3D models and drawings using CAM software to create CNC programmes for part manufacturing. This role involves using simulation tools to test the programmes before releasing them to the production floor. This is a great opportunity for someone who is looking to be part of a welcoming team with the pathway to further develop your career.Your responsibilities as a Production Engineer will include:

  • Review and assess part drawings/models to determine manufacturability.

  • Investigate similar parts and designs (if available).

  • Develop the most efficient method for manufacturing each operation.

  • Select appropriate tooling and apply cutter paths using CAM software.

  • Create setup sheets and detailed tool build documentation.

  • Perform virtual testing of CNC programmes using specialist simulation software.

  • Collaborate with operators to test and verify programmes on the machine.

  • Maintain and improve existing CNC programmes and shop documentation.

  • Liaise with internal departments and external suppliers as necessary.

Knowledge & Experience required for the Production Engineer Role:

  • Strong technical ability to complete tasks efficiently and accurately.

  • Excellent organisational skills to meet deadlines while maintaining cost-effectiveness.

  • Outstanding communication skills to create clear, concise, and unambiguous documentation.

  • Team-oriented with the ability to collaborate with multifunctional teams.

  • Formal qualification in Mechanical Engineering (ONC or above).

  • In-depth understanding of metalworking and manufacturing processes.

  • Significant experience in engineered part manufacture and CNC programming.

  • Proficiency in CAD and CAM software, with a preference for Siemens NX.

  • Experience with CNC machine tools and production environments.

  • Familiarity with Vericut, Veriprog, and Mazak Smooth systems.
