I am currently recruiting on behalf of my client for a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Design Manager to join a well established Tier 1 contractor.

This is an excellent opportunity for a professional with a passion for construction design and a desire to advance their career. The role would suit someone who has worked in an Architect Practice and is looking to make a move into main contracting.

As the Assistant Design Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of high-quality design solutions across a variety of construction projects, working closely with the Design Manager, clients, consultants, and site teams to ensure designs are delivered on time, within budget, and meet the project's specifications.



Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Design Manager in coordinating design activities throughout all project stages, from pre-construction to handover.
  • Liaise with architects, engineers, consultants, and subcontractors to ensure design alignment with project goals.
  • Manage and review design documentation, ensuring compliance with contractual, regulatory, and quality standards.
  • Attend project meetings to provide design input and address any technical queries.
  • Support the management of design change requests and assess the impact on costs and timelines.
  • Contribute to the preparation of design programs and monitor progress to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Maintain strong communication between internal teams, clients, and stakeholders

Requirements

  • A degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Strong understanding of design processes, construction methodologies, and relevant regulations.
  • Proficient in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or similar tools.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities with a focus on achieving high-quality outcomes.
  • Previous experience in a construction or design role (e.g., as a Junior Design Manager, Design Coordinator, or similar).
