Head of Engineering

Matthew James Recruitment are recruiting for a Engineering Manager to join their client on a permanent basis. This is a fantastic opportunity and in order to be considered you will have worked within a Manufacturing organisation previously.

Salary- £60,000- £65,000pa

The Role:

• Provide monthly activity reports detailing completed jobs and outstanding actions.
• Ensure safe and compliant management of all maintenance and engineering services.
• Maintain accountability for meeting statutory and regulatory obligations.
• Complete and update all relevant risk assessments.
• Escalate and manage risks and issues within the department and across the business.
• Build and maintain an effective engineering team to support long-term business goals.
• Delegate tasks effectively to team members.
• Promote engineering best practices and actively participate in the Senior Management Team (SMT).
• Communicate maintenance concerns to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and SMT.
• Oversee and participate in the maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment.
• Conduct regular site inspections and identify areas needing additional maintenance.
• Schedule and supervise external maintenance workers, ensuring adherence to health and safety standards.
• Oversee equipment installation processes.
• Demonstrate strong project management skills and work with the SLT to identify priorities.
• Manage maintenance budgets and costs.
• Negotiate contracts and manage relationships with contractors.
• Control and monitor inventory and spare parts to minimize downtime.
• Ensure compliance with service schedules for gas, water/steam, electrical, and fixed assets.
• Estimate costs for maintenance projects and monitor expenditure.
