The Project

As a highly experienced Mechanical Operations Manager, you will play a key role overseeing various commercial, education, leisure and healthcare projects across Yorkshire. Your responsibilities will include negotiating contract terms, monitoring project performance, resolving disputes, and maintaining comprehensive records. Your efforts will be essential in ensuring that all projects are executed smoothly, successfully, and in full compliance with contractual obligations.

Requirements

For this role it is essential that you carry the following professional qualifications as a minimum;

  • HND Building Services Engineering or equivalent - desirable but not essential
  • CEng - Charted Engineer - desirable but not essential
  • CSCS Card

It is also essential that you hold the experience below;

  • An extensive background within the industry with at least 5 years of operating in either an Operations / Contracts Manager position for an M&E / Building Services contractor
  • A proven track record of success delivering projects across commercial / education / leisure / health sectors in a similar position
  • Previous experience working with M&E contractors or subcontractors on projects / packages up to 5m+

Duties

  • End client management
  • Bid document production
  • Subcontractor appointment
  • Monitor expenses and drive profitability growth
  • Lead, mentor and guide mechanical engineers and technicians
  • Provide support and guidance to improve business performance
  • Assist central estimating with targeted bids aligned to client requirements
  • Develop opportunities from current and new clients through repeat business
  • Coordinate and oversee mechanical site team's activities to efficient operations
  • Utilise central teams, specialist suppliers, and subcontractors to offer technical support to customers and site teams
  • Develop and control budgets for mechanical operations, manage procurement, and implement cost control strategies
  • Oversee clear financial targets to meet objectives, reporting progress to Regional Directors and the Board when necessary
  • Perform appraisals for managers and engineers, defining objectives and creating tailored training and development programs
  • Collaborate with senior management in refining procedures and policies to improve effectiveness, ensure ISO compliance, and enhance performance and financial results
  • Lead complex mechanical packages, from design and implementation to completion, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget
  • Ensure all operations adhere to applicable regulations, standards, and safety protocols, including health and safety, environmental, and quality guidelines
  • Recognise mechanical process inefficiencies and implement improvements to increase efficiency, cut costs, and enhance quality
