The primary responsibility of the Site Agent is to manage the construction site to ensure successful project delivery in alignment with customer objectives while maintaining high standards of health and safety, quality, environmental impact, and cost control.
You will be responsible for delivering various projects to the specified quality, within the required timeline, and achieving maximum commercial performance.
The successful candidate will work closely with the project manager, engineers, and surveyors to ensure that projects are completed safely, while consistently meeting or exceeding customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities:Site Management
- Take overall responsibility for the successful delivery of multiple projects in the Civils and Water sectors.
- Ensure work is delivered to the required quality without defects.
- Lead and manage a team of Sub Agents, Engineers, and Forepeople to ensure safe project delivery without environmental incidents and in line with quality requirements.
- Develop and implement Project Plans, RAMS, ITPs, and Waste Management Plans, in line with company procedures.
- Maximise the commercial performance of the contract.
- Create and manage the project construction programme, including producing two-week lookahead schedules.
- Prepare procurement schedules and coordinate with the procurement department to ensure sites have adequate resources.
- Act as an ambassador for the business, representing our client to customers, the public, and official bodies.
- Deliver projects that meet customer requirements and ensure satisfaction.
- Populate and manage the cost plan for the project.
- Maximise project value while maintaining commercial control.
- Ensure detailed site diaries and records are maintained.
- Drive cost efficiency and challenge the status quo.
- Identify and implement value engineering opportunities.
- Produce high-quality, accurate monthly reports for both internal use and the client.
- Chair weekly site meetings in accordance with company procedures.
- Meet monthly and weekly reporting deadlines.
- Align with Business Unit Objectives.

Essential
- Extensive experience in Civil Engineering, particularly as a Site Agent for a contractor, delivering projects in a highly regulated environment.
- Strong working knowledge of contract conditions, CDM regulations, Design Management, Programme and Risk Management, and cost control (including forecasting, actual cost, and value reporting).
- Solid understanding of specifications and testing regimes relevant to general civil engineering.
- Degree/HNC in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
- CSCS certification (mandatory).
- IOSH Managing Safely or SMSTS certification.
- Temporary Works Coordinator qualification.
- Confined space training.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and team management skills.
- Ability to challenge designs and resolve issues effectively.
- Strong leadership capabilities to drive a positive culture in line with company values.
- Proven ability to motivate teams and maintain high compliance standards.
- Temporary Works Co-ordinator qualification.
- Chartered Engineer status (CEng MICE) or equivalent.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Project software.
- Familiarity with JCT and NEC contract forms.
