Our client is seeking a Service and Maintenance Engineer to be based full-time at their Leeds site, maintaining bespoke testing equipment used to advance healthcare solutions globally.
About the Role:
As a Service and Maintenance Engineer, you will ensure the reliability and performance of highly specialised simulators used in the testing of prosthetic implants. Your expertise will be crucial in maintaining this advanced equipment, minimising downtime, and contributing to continuous improvement in medical device testing. Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine preventative maintenance in line with scheduled plans to ensure optimal simulator performance.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues to minimise downtime.
- Manage and maintain spare parts inventory to support maintenance and emergency repairs.
- Provide technical support to the client’s laboratory team, ensuring the smooth running of simulators and compliance with health and safety policies.
- Conduct repairs, replace faulty components, and perform emergency maintenance as required.
- Undertake tribological, mechanical, and product functional testing to support research and development.
- Assist in introducing, validating, and improving new testing equipment and lab processes.
- Deliver training to junior staff and contractors on simulator use and maintenance.
- Collaborate with the client’s senior team to identify areas for continuous improvement and sustainability.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities in compliance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
The ideal candidate will be an experienced engineer with a solid background in mechanical maintenance, ideally within a manufacturing, testing, or research environment. You will be proactive, with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Essential Qualifications and Experience:
- HND or equivalent in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- At least 4 years’ experience in machinery maintenance/support engineering, preferably in a research or test environment.
- Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.
- Excellent time management and communication skills.
- A proactive, detail-oriented approach to problem-solving.
- Full UK driving licence.
