Elevation Recruitment Group are pleased to be working with a company specialising in the design and manufacturing of pressure vessels to help them recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer. Known for high-quality products and commitment to innovation, our client serves customers across multiple sectors.  Due to constinued growth, they are looking for a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join a dynamic team based near Leeds.As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a key role in designing and developing pressure vessels and autoclaves, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and performance. You will collaborate closely with mechanical and electrical teams, as well as work directly with clients to tailor solutions that meet their specific requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop pressure vessels in accordance with industry standards and client specifications
  • Create and review detailed 2D and 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and technical documentation
  • Conduct stress and thermal analysis to ensure safety and reliability
  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams to optimize designs for efficient production
  • Work with suppliers to select appropriate materials and components
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards (e.g., ASME, PD5500)
  • Support product testing and validation, troubleshooting design-related issues
  • Communicate with clients to refine specifications and provide technical support

We'd love to hear from candidates with the following skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • Experience in mechanical design, ideally within pressure vessel, autoclave, or similar manufacturing
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD)
  • Specialist knowledge of the Pressure Equipment Directive, ASME Section VIII Div 01, and ASME Section I
  • Understanding of alternative pressure vessel design codes, for example, PD5500
  • Knowledge of Machinery Directives

Hours of work (36.5)

Monday to Thursday 07:30am to 4:00pm, with ½ hour lunch break.

Friday 07:30am to 12:30pm
