Senior Engineering Gelogist

Location: Leeds

Permanent position

Emtech are working with with a growing Civil, Structural & Environmental Consultancy who are looking for an experienced Engineering Geologist to join their team in Leeds.

The successful candidate will join a team of Geo-environmental and Engineering Geologists and will be involved in producing Geo-environmental Desk Studies and Site Investigation Reports, Coal Mining Risk Reports, Tenders and Specifications for grouting of mine workings and earthworks, and responses to regulator conditions/queries.

The role is generally office based, but there will be occasional requirements to attend meetings with Clients, supervise site work on a visiting basis, such as grout treatment or earthworks, and occasionally carry out fieldwork activity, such as, logging boreholes and trial pits should workload demand. The candidate will also assist the Department Head with the day to day management of the department and supervision of junior staff and contributing to their development.

Ideally you will have experience in the below areas:

  • Ground Investigation Techniques
  • Supervision of fieldwork activity, including organising and directing field operations (equipment and personnel)
  • Sampling and logging of soil and rock to professional/technical standards
  • Scheduling of laboratory testing (geotechnical and contamination)
  • Preparation of interpretative reports on both geotechnical and contamination aspects
  • Preparation of earth works specification and validation reports
  • Preparation of Geotechnical and Contamination Remediation strategies and Validation of Remediation
  • Consultations with Regulators

The following skills or experience are desirable, but not essential:

  • Slope stability assessment
  • CLEA Risk Assessment
  • Groundwater DQRA

The suitable candidate must be motivated and enthusiastic and will possess:-

  • Capability to work independently or with the design
  • Ability to effectively delegate work to others and act in a mentoring role to less experienced
  • Knowledge and understanding of current technical
  • Financial management skills in assessing potential projects and preparing fee
  • Excellent time management skills and project budget
  • Good communication skills, both written and
  • Previous experience in dealing with clients and attending design team
  • Ability to develop and maintain client
  • Commitment to continued professional
  • Full UK Driving license
