Service Care Solutions are looking for a SENDIASS Information and Advice Officer to work within the Leeds City Council on a 4-week initial contract.

Location: Leeds

Job roles/responsibilities:
To support with front line delivery of the SEND IAS service. The role would be expected to act as first point of contact for the service advice line, providing data capture, initial responses, signposting and where appropriate, triage into the wider service offer. There would also be responsibility to support with service communications such as the website and social media channels and with developing and maintaining service resources such as guides and information videos.

  • Respond to voice mails, emails and web enquiries made to the advice line.
  • Provide initial, general information and advice on SEND processes and topics.
  • Provide appropriate signposting, in line with enquiries.
  • Collect service user data to allow for creation of, and on-going records, in line with service policies and GDPR requirements.
  • Provide triage assessment for enquires that require additional advice and support.
  • Support with the delivery of virtual and in-person outreach activities such as information sessions, workshops, and advice sessions.
  • Support with writing and updating service resources.
  • Write and post social media updates.
  • Appropriately escalate risk or concerns about safeguarding in a timely way.
  • Apply Council Values and abide by all relevant policies and procedures particularly those relating to Safeguarding, Equality and Diversity, and Health & Safety
  • Be aware of and comply with Leeds City Council policies and procedures e.g. child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality, and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person.

Knowledge/Experience required:

  • To work as part of a team to deliver on the service offer.
  • Understand the needs of vulnerable children and their families particularly those with complex and Special Educational Needs
  • Ability to interpret legislation in a user-friendly manner for families in a format they understand.
  • Ability to defuse situations which may lead to conflict and breakdown of communications for young people, children, and their families.
  • Excellent listening and communication skills.
  • An ability to collect and analyse data for strategic monitoring.

Qualifications:

  • Good general standard of education at least to the equivalent of NVQ level 3.
