THE COMPANY

Our client is one of the largest post-production facilities, specialising in all areas of post-production – ingest, offline, finishing and delivery for production companies and all major broadcasters.

THE ROLE

As a IT and Post Production Technician you will be responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting both office and broadcast-related IT systems, including, but not exclusive to, cloud operations (Microsoft 365 apps, SDN, Jamf, MDM) and on-premises operations (DaVinci Resolve, Avid Media Composer, Pro Tools, Adobe Suite, and Blackmagic Design hardware/software). 

Key responsibilities:

IT Support and Systems Maintenance

  • Providing technical support for office IT infrastructure, including desktops, laptops, servers, networking devices, and storage solutions. Installing, configuring, and troubleshooting software, hardware, and peripheral devices (printers, routers, etc.). Collaborating with third-party vendors for software updates, hardware repairs, and new technology integrations.  Assisting in temporary and remote office set-up and support. Including preparing devices for use on location. Developing and maintaining local networks in ways that optimise performance Ensuring the security and privacy of networks and computer systems Providing guidance to users – in person, remotely or by phone. Organising, scheduling and recording upgrades and maintenance Conducting daily network backup operations Asset tracking IT equipment across all sites Ordering all hardware, including hard drives for archiving and LaCie drives for tapeless rushes. Maintaining a ‘spares’ department Collating information for cap-ex requests and ordering new equipment Monitoring file management and recovery Providing ad-hoc support and holiday cover to IT Manager  

Post-production and Media Support, according to skill level

  • Providing technical support for post-production systems, including DaVinci Resolve, Avid Media Composer, Pro Tools, and other creative tools used in media editing and post-production. Training colleagues on unfamiliar office and editing software Installing and maintaining of NLE equipment, such as workstations for edit assistants, editors and producers. Plus, NLE peripheral equipment, such as output monitors, waveform monitors and other QC equipment.  Troubleshooting issues related to media storage, Such as Avid NEXIS, Synology and other SAN/NAS systems. Troubleshooting file formats, codecs, and audio/video sync problems. Performing media wrangling tasks, including system set-up, testing, ingesting, transferring, backing up, and organising media files for production teams prior to deployment. Supporting cross-departmental workflows, ensuring that assets move smoothly between the production and post-production stages.

Broadcast and Production Support, according to skill level:

  • Maintaining and supporting broadcast systems, including Blackmagic Design hardware, the Avid Ecosystem, Adobe Suite applications (Premiere Pro, After Effects), and other broadcast-focused tools. Performing system upgrades, installations, and troubleshooting for broadcast-related technologies. Assisting with the configuration of live streaming set-ups, including audio/video feeds, encoders, and streaming software. Monitoring logs to proactively support Post-production connectivity, especially during times of high throughput.

Cross-departmental Collaboration

  • Working closely with Production (both office and location teams) and post to maintain seamless workflows. Ensuring all departments are aligned on security, system capabilities, software requirements, and troubleshooting best practices.

5. On-Call Support

  • Providing on-call support outside of regular office hours to address urgent technical issues, particularly those affecting time-sensitive production schedules or international projects, as required.

THE PERSON

It is essential that you have substantial IT support experience. Relevant qualifications in IT, Broadcast Engineering, Media Technology, or a related field is preferred. Along with knowledge of broadcast technologies such as Adobe Suite and Blackmagic Design.

It would be advantageous to have a strong understanding of video/audio file formats, codecs, and compression techniques is required, along with experience in network troubleshooting, user account management, and IT security.

Familiarity with macOS, Windows, and Linux operating systems, as well as media storage solutions (NAS/SAN), is necessary. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills are a must, along with the ability to communicate technical issues clearly.
