We are looking for an experienced Materials Handler/ Overhead Crane Operator to join Operations team in an established family-owned business in Leeds (LS11). Our client is a leading manufacturer and supplier of electrical power distribution equipment and pioneers of super low loss amorphous transformer technology.

The Role has a variety of responsibilities to keep you busy throughout the day:

  • Your core duties will be loading and unloading of various types of distribution and power transformers utilising the overhead crane.
  • Transporting and processing various materials across two sites using FLT and Company van
  • Using general workshop machinery and hand tools related the role
  • Quality inspection of colleagues output
  • Maximise the uptime of operations by delivering materials in a timely manner
  • Performance of area housekeeping activities, including the prompt reporting of problems shortages or equipment breakdown

Skills, Knowledge & Experience:

  • Hands on experience of working within a manufacturing environment isessential
  • Counter Balance FLTessentialto 7 tonnes
  • Full driving licenceessential
  • Overhead crane/lifting slinging experience isessential
  • Experience of working within a mechanical/electrical engineering environment isdesirable.
  • The ability to understand mechanical and schematic drawings isdesirable
  • Have good written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience of working collaboratively with other operations personnel
  • Ideally experience of working within a continuous improvement environment
  • Can do attitude with the ability to work unsupervised using own initiative
  • Flexible approach with hours and a willingness to work across other areas of the business
  • Good attention to detail

Salary and benefits:

  • Salary negotiable

Week 17.45 am and 4.45 pm Monday to Thursday(Friday off)
