Project Manager - Leeds
A leading civil engineering and infrastructure specialist, delivering high-quality projects across the water, transport, built environment, and energy sectors. With over 40 years of experience, the company operates as a tier one contractor, working on large frameworks, joint ventures, and standalone projects. This role involves managing multiple infrastructure projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The successful candidate will work closely with site teams, clients, and stakeholders while maintaining a commitment to safety, innovation, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop project plans, budgets, and forecasts, ensuring financial performance.
- Lead projects from design through to completion, overseeing documentation and compliance.
- Ensure all work packages are clearly defined and align with project scope.
- Monitor progress, labour organisation, and team efficiency.
- Provide monthly reports on project status and financial performance.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Attend and lead weekly site meetings, ensuring key discussions and actions are documented.
- Work closely with framework suppliers, design consultants, and internal teams.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to team members.
- Champion HSE best practices, ensuring all activities comply with legal and company standards.
- Lead site teams in risk assessments, method statements, and safety briefings.
- Ensure all HSE documentation is up to date and regularly reviewed.
- Promote a culture of safety-first across all project teams.
- Develop and maintain Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), ensuring project quality.
- Oversee the QA process, ensuring technical issues are resolved.
- Ensure as-built drawings and O&M manuals are submitted on project completion.
Experience & Qualifications
- Degree/HNC in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
- Experience managing civil engineering and water infrastructure projects.
- Good knowledge of contract management, including NEC contracts, Early Warnings, and Compensation Events.
- CSCS Manager's Card & SMSTS certification.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical thinking, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to challenge designs, resolve issues, and drive innovation.
- Experience managing direct labour and subcontractors.
