Job Title: Assistant Quantity Surveyor (QS)
Location: Leeds (with occasional travel to York, Sheffield, and Glasgow)
Salary: Up to £30,000 per annum (DOE) + Car Allowance + Benefits
Company Overview:
Our client is a leading main contractor based in Leeds, specializing in both low and high-rise developments, particularly within the hotel and aparthotel sector. With an expanding portfolio of projects across the UK, including large-scale developments in the hospitality industry, they are looking to add a dedicated Assistant Quantity Surveyor to their team.
Job Description:
As an Assistant QS, you will provide essential commercial support to the project delivery team, assisting with procurement, materials management, and commercial contract administration. You will also have the opportunity to work closely with senior Quantity Surveyors, offering support on a variety of projects, from cladding replacement and flooding maintenance systems to multi-million-pound developments.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with procurement of materials and services required for ongoing projects.
Help manage commercial contracts and ensure compliance with terms and conditions.
Support senior QSs with cost tracking, forecasting, and reporting.
Attend site visits in Leeds, York, Sheffield, and Glasgow to monitor project progress.
Coordinate with the team on the day-to-day administration of the project.
Provide assistance with maintaining project budgets and timelines.
Assist in preparing tender documentation and managing the subcontractor selection process.
Contribute to resolving issues on-site in a timely and effective manner.
Act as a support resource for the QS team and take on additional tasks as required.
Person Specification:
Experience in the construction industry, ideally with a background in quantity surveying or related fields.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Familiarity with procurement processes and contract management.
Ability to travel to project sites regularly.
Highly motivated with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
A team player with the willingness to support senior QSs and the wider project team.
Local to Leeds or within reasonable commuting distance.
