About the Company:

We are currently seeking an experienced and driven Intermediate Quantity Surveyor to join our Leeds office.

Role Overview:
As an Intermediate Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in managing and overseeing the financial and contractual aspects of our projects, which include both new builds and refurbishments across a range of commercial and residential sectors. This role requires a QS with solid experience in groundworks and commercial property development. You will work closely with project teams and senior management to ensure that projects are delivered on time and within budget while maintaining high standards of quality.

Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and manage cost plans and budgets for projects.
Oversee and manage procurement processes for subcontractors and suppliers.
Undertake site measurements and valuations.
Prepare tender documents, including schedules of quantities and bill of quantities.
Monitor and track project costs to ensure financial control is maintained.
Negotiate contracts and final accounts with subcontractors.
Assist in identifying potential risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.
Collaborate with project managers and other stakeholders to ensure project timelines and budgets are met.
Advise on variations, claims, and extensions of time.
Provide support to senior management and assist with reporting on project costs and progress.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations on-site.

Skills & Experience Required:
Experience: At least 5-10 years of experience in Quantity Surveying, ideally within a main contractor background (experience in fit-out QS roles is not suitable).
Sector Experience: Strong background in commercial property development, groundworks, and ideally exposure to projects in education, healthcare, and residential sectors.
Qualifications: Degree in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent). MRICS qualification is desirable but not essential.
Technical Skills: Proficient in the use of QS software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project).
Knowledge: In-depth understanding of construction contracts (JCT, NEC), procurement methods, and cost management practices.
Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build relationships with clients, subcontractors, and colleagues.
Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of QS duties.
Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to manage challenges and offer solutions effectively.

Desirable Attributes:
Experience in managing refurbishment and groundworks projects.
Strong negotiation skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritise effectively.
A proactive attitude with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Understanding of sustainability and its application in commercial property development.
