The Opportunity
We are proud to support a leading private hospital in Leeds during an exciting period of growth to recruit an experienced Theatre Manager to join their team.The highly regarded Hospital provides Cosmetic Surgery (facial and body) alongside Hair Transplants.

The successful applicant will be responsible for managing clinical and theatre staff, ensuring regulatory compliance, coordinating patient care, and maintaining high clinical standards. The Theatre Manager will ensure that all clinical and Theatre operations run smoothly, contributing to optimal patient outcomes, high levels of satisfaction, and the clinics overall success.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Management

  • Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the surgical theatre.
  • Ensuring theatres are prepared and ready for procedures, including equipment checks and environmental setup.
  • Scheduling and coordinating theatre use to maximise efficiency.
  • Managing theatre supplies, including surgical instruments, disposables, and pharmaceuticals.

Team Leadership

  • Supervising and supporting the theatre staff, including nurses, surgeons, anaesthetists, and support staff.
  • Leading team meetings and addressing concerns or feedback from the team.
  • Ensuring staff are trained in and adhere to current protocols and standards.
  • Coordinating shift patterns and managing staff workload

Patient Care

  • Ensuring a high standard of patient care and safety before, during, and after surgery.
  • Addressing patient concerns related to theatre procedures and recovery.
  • Collaborating with patient care coordinators to ensure a smooth patient journey.

Compliance and Safety

  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and clinical governance standards.
  • Conducting audits and maintaining records of infection control and sterilization processes.
  • Monitoring adherence to policies regarding patient confidentiality and consent.

Quality Assurance

  • Reviewing surgical outcomes and implementing improvements where necessary.
  • Managing and addressing incidents or complaints that arise in the theatre.
  • Keeping up to date with advancements in cosmetic surgery practices and integrating best practices.

Collaboration with Other Departments

  • Liaising with other departments, such as outpatient clinics, pre-assessment teams, and recovery units.
  • Working closely with surgeons and anaesthetists to ensure the seamless flow of patients.

Crisis and Emergency Management

  • Responding to emergencies or unexpected complications during surgeries.
  • Ensuring a clear plan is in place for any theatre-related emergencies, including equipment failure or staff shortages.

What Were Looking For

  • Minimum 3 years experience as a Theatre Manager ideally within the private sector.
  • Registered Nurse / ODP qualification with active NMC / HCPC Registration
  • In-depth understanding of NMC / HCPC Code of Conduct
  • Extensive knowledge of Clinical Governance, Quality Assurance, and CQC standards.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills to influence and engage teams
