Role Overview:

As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth running of lessons in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. Your primary responsibility will be to manage classroom behaviour, ensure that students remain focused on their tasks, and provide support where needed. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a strong ability to manage diverse classroom environments, and a proactive approach to handling a variety of student needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise Classes: Take responsibility for delivering pre-set lesson plans in the absence of teaching staff, ensuring students remain engaged, on task, and respectful of school rules.
  • Classroom Management: Maintain high standards of behaviour and discipline within the classroom, using positive reinforcement techniques. Handle any disruptions in a calm and effective manner.
  • Support Student Learning: Provide general support to students with tasks, ensuring they understand instructions and are progressing with their work.
  • Promote a Positive Learning Environment: Encourage a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom atmosphere where all students feel motivated to learn.
  • Report Back to Teachers: After each lesson, provide feedback on student progress and behaviour, ensuring that teachers are informed of any issues or areas requiring follow-up.
  • Safeguarding & Health and Safety: Follow all school policies related to safeguarding and health and safety, ensuring the well-being of all students while under your supervision.
  • Ad-hoc Duties: Assist with general school activities such as school events, assemblies, or other administrative support tasks as required.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Classroom Management Skills: Have experience working with young people and be confident managing groups of students, ensuring they remain focused and respectful.
