The Role

The school is seeking a Curriculum Team Leader of Drama to join the school from September 2025. This is a full-time, permanent position with responsibility for leading the Drama department and delivering high-quality teaching across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5. You will lead on curriculum development, manage a passionate team of staff, and bring the subject to life through dynamic teaching and inspiring school productions.

Position Details

  • Location: Leeds
  • Contract: Permanent full-time (September 2025)
  • Pay Rate: £31650 - £49084 per annum + TLR 2b

Essential Requirements

  • QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Experience of leading or significantly contributing to school productions.
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).

Skills Required

  • Inspirational leadership and the ability to manage change positively.
  • Excellent subject knowledge of Drama across all key stages.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare.
  • Passion for the arts and a genuine belief in the power of Drama education.
  • Experience of teaching GCSE and A Level Drama and/or Performing Arts.
  • Track record of raising attainment in Drama.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and develop a cohesive, effective Drama department.
  • Oversee the curriculum at KS3, KS4 and KS5, ensuring excellence and innovation.
  • Deliver high-quality teaching across all key stages, including GCSE and A Level Drama and/or Performing Arts.
  • Mentor and support Drama teachers to deliver outstanding lessons.
  • Manage departmental resources and budgets effectively.
  • Lead and coordinate whole school Drama productions and events.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Drama pedagogy and subject developments.
  • Take responsibility for health and safety in Drama practical spaces.
  • Contribute to school policy, vision and strategic direction.
  • Lead departmental review and self-evaluation processes.
