About the Role


As a SENDIASS Information and Advice Officer, you will be the first point of contact for our Advice Line, providing initial advice, information, and signposting to families, as well as triaging enquiries that require more specialist support. Your role will also include maintaining service communications (such as updating the website and social media), developing accessible resources (like guides and videos), and supporting outreach activities such as workshops and information sessions.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to voicemails, emails, and web enquiries promptly and professionally.
  • Offer general advice and information on SEND processes and topics, signposting to appropriate services where necessary.
  • Collect and maintain service user data in line with GDPR and organisational policies.
  • Triage enquiries, escalating to additional advice or support services when required.
  • Assist with virtual and in-person outreach activities, including workshops and advice sessions.
  • Write, edit, and update service resources such as guides, factsheets, and videos.
  • Manage and post updates to social media platforms and the website.
  • Identify and appropriately escalate safeguarding concerns in a timely manner.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team to deliver a high-quality service.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Strong listening and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legislation in an accessible way.
  • Understanding of the needs of vulnerable children and families, especially those with SEND.
  • Ability to defuse situations and maintain positive communication under pressure.
  • Competence in collecting and analysing data for monitoring purposes.
  • Experience working collaboratively within a team environment.
