Location: Large, Diverse Primary School, Near Beeston, Leeds
Contract: Part-time, Mornings Only (4 Days Per Week)

PK Education is excited to offer an opportunity for a dedicated and compassionate individual to join a welcoming and diverse primary school near Beeston, Leeds, as a Behaviour Support Worker. This part-time position provides a fantastic chance to make a meaningful difference in the life of a young pupil, helping them overcome challenges and thrive in their educational journey.

As a Behaviour Support Worker, you will be working closely with a Reception pupil who requires additional support to engage effectively in school life. This role involves providing 1:1 support to help the pupil develop key social, emotional, and behavioural skills while ensuring their inclusion in classroom activities. You will play a crucial role in helping the pupil overcome behavioural challenges such as reluctance to participate, swearing, shouting, absconding from class, and occasional hitting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide consistent, tailored support to the pupil, fostering a positive and nurturing learning environment.
  • Work closely with the class teacher to implement strategies and interventions that reduce challenging behaviours and promote engagement.
  • Support the pupil in developing self-regulation and communication skills to help them interact more positively with peers and teachers.
  • Build a strong, trusting relationship with the pupil, encouraging their confidence and motivation to succeed.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to ensure the pupil's needs are met and their progress is tracked effectively.
  • Implement behaviour management techniques that promote positive reinforcement and inclusion, ensuring the pupil feels valued and supported.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience working with children, particularly in managing challenging behaviours, in an educational or similar setting.
  • A strong, firm but fair approach to behaviour management, with the ability to stay calm and composed in challenging situations.
  • Resilience, patience, and a proactive mindset, with the ability to stay focused on solutions and improvements.
  • Skilled at building positive, trusting relationships with children and adults alike.
  • Enthusiastic and dedicated to helping children reach their potential and thrive within a supportive learning environment.
  • Ideally, experience working in a primary school, but candidates that have experience in different educational settings will be considered as well.
