Role: Domestic Abuse Worker – Triage and Assessment

Rate: £15.50 – 16.50ph + VAT

Our client, a specialist Domestic Abuse charity, is looking for a Domestic Violence Worker to join their Triage and Assessment Team and to act as the first point of contact for clients experiencing/ fleeing domestic abuse.
You will be providing initial advice, guidance and information to clients, providing crisis support and developing support packages, making referrals and supporting with risk management and safeguarding.
You will be supporting vulnerable women and families who are victims and survivors of: domestic, sexual & honour- based violence and abuse; forced marriage; trafficking; stalking and harassment.
Responsibilities and Job Duties:
- Providing advice, support and guidance to victim of gender-based violence
- Carrying out initial assessments to promptly assess clients’ safety, current situation, risks and needs to accurately advise them and/or signpost them to the best service (internal and external)
- Providing crisis support and initial safety planning for victim/survivors and supporting clients over the phone
- Supporting clients face to face at their drop in centres
- Making referrals internally to Independent Domestic Violence Advocates (IDVA), Community Support, Refuge and Support Groups as well as signposting and referring into other relevant agencies across West Yorkshire
- Providing one-off safety advice and information for those not ready for, or requiring, additional support
Essential Requirements:
- Experience of supporting victims of domestic abuse
- Strong working knowledge of risk management and safeguarding
