What You'll Bring:

We’re looking for an Application Engineer to join our team.

Day to Day You’ll Be:

  • Configure and maintain application processes and services including monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security.
  • Define and document standard operating principles and maintenance procedures.
  • Identify operational process gaps and contribute to their resolution.
  • Provide input into the technical architecture and technology roadmap.
  • Produce and maintain operational technical documentation.
  • Independently analyse and solve complex problems where a precedent may not exist.
  • Assist developers with complex monitoring refinements.
  • Provide technical consultancy and knowledge support to the wider business.
  • Manage external third-party relationships as and when required.
  • Collaborating with Delivery teams to proactively support, monitor, troubleshoot and remediate cloud platform issues ensuring performance and stability (all environments).
  • Collaborating with Delivery teams to adopt and maintain build & release pipelines including any pipeline testing frameworks adhering to global standards.
  • Collaborating with Delivery teams to proactively support, monitor, troubleshoot and remediate application issues to ensuring their performance and stability.
  • Independently analyse and solve complex problems throughout all environments.
  • Continually improve monitoring, logging and alerting dashboards and metrics through true observability frameworks.
  • May also include travel to other TransUnion sites and unsociable hours up to and not limited to 24/7 and on call support.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • In depth knowledge of providing technical support of business critical applications on multi-tiered environments across Windows Server and Linux platforms hosted on-premise, in Azure and AWS.
  • Experience of using monitoring, observability and troubleshooting tools including but not limited to Nagios, Splunk, What’s Up Gold, SCOM, Prometheus, Grafana and OpenTelemetry.
  • Experience of troubleshooting complex applications and services written in .Net and PHP.
  • Experience of scripting technologies including PowerShell and Bash.
  • Experience of Disaster Recovery methods and processes.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to identify root cause and permanent resolution.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Able to identify and manage risks within line of business.
  • Ability to assess change requirements and implement in accordance with a change management process.
  • Excellent documentation, interpersonal and communications skills with the ability to communicate at all levels.
  • Hands on experience using ITSM ticketing and workflow systems.
  • Ability to define and deliver operational learning paths.
  • Experience of collaborating with multiple disciplines including but not limited to Architecture, Developers, and information Security.
  • Ability to identify, define and deliver operational service improvements.
  • Familiarity with use of source control including branching, workflow, peer reviews etc.
  • Good understanding of DevOps, Agile, Scrum, Kanban processes and methodologies.

Desirable Skills & Experience:

  • An understanding of the ITIL framework.
  • Experience of providing technical support within the financial services industry.
  • Knowledge of orchestration and deployment pipeline tools such as Kubernetes and Harness.
  • Completion of or working towards the AWS Cloud Practitioner and AWS SysOps Administrator certifications.
