We have an exciting opportunity to join our client as a Back-end Web Developer. They are looking for a self-motivated and disciplined individual who can commute to Leeds 2/3 days per week.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable with a variety of work including supporting and troubleshooting on WordPress focusing on LearnDash and WooCommerce websites as well as a variety of extensions including payment gateways, shipping providers, tax providers, membership plugins and booking plugins, etc.

This role requires a problem-solver who can break down challenges and develop efficient code solutions. On a daily basis, you might be building code from scratch or modifying and improving third-party code to meet specific needs.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Support WordPress websites
  • Knowledge of coding
  • Complete on-going tasks for existing websites and Laravel apps
  • Build and support custom WordPress plugins, with a particular emphasis on extending existing plugins such as WooCommerce, LearnDash LMS, and Gravity Forms
  • Contribute as-needed to larger custom PHP/MySQL development projects
  • Help prioritise tasks on the Kanban board and share best practices with lean, agile methodology within the business

Required Skills:

In-depth experience using (and extending) WooCommerce, WooCommerce Subscriptions, payment plugins, shipping plugins, tax plugins, etc.

In-depth experience using (and extending) Gravity Forms, GravityWiz, GravityKit

Support and troubleshooting, and the ability to quickly identify and solve problems for clients

Experience leveraging, adapting, and supporting pre-built WordPress themes and plugins

Custom WordPress plugin development

Third-party API Integrations

Linux command-line tools including WP-CLI and writing custom WP-CLI commands

Custom PHP/MySQL Development

jQuery/Javascript

Git

Debugging issues by analyzing debug, error, and access logs

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Attention to detail

Ability to quickly learn new skills and techniques

Competence working independently, while also being flexible, willing to learn, and a good team player

Desired Skills (Some experience preferred, but must be willing to learn):

Specific WordPress plugin experience with WP All Import/Export

Experience working with Digital Ocean and Cloudways hosting platform services

DNS Management

Experience with Web Application Firewalls

Website performance analysis and optimization

Specific WordPress theme/builder experience with Elementor and Elementor Pro

Experience

At least 4 years of experience in backend development specifically within the WordPress and WooCommerce ecosystem.

At least 1 year of experience working in a remote position.
