We are seeking a full-time SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a child with autism in a primary school in Leeds from April to July. This role is ideal for someone patient, nurturing, and experienced in supporting children with additional needs.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide individualised support for a child with autism to help them access learning
- Assist in developing social and communication skills in a structured and supportive way
- Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement tailored strategies and interventions
- Use visual aids, sensory strategies, and structured routines to support learning and behaviour
- Encourage independence and confidence while ensuring the child's well-being
- Monitor progress and adapt support as needed to meet the child's evolving needs
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment
- Experience working 1:1 with children with autism or other additional needs
- Understanding of autism and effective strategies to support learning and social development
- A patient, nurturing, and proactive approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
