SEN Teaching Assistant
Job Summary
NextGen Teachers are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant (Special Educational Needs) to support the educational development of children in a classroom setting. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children, particularly in special education, and will be skilled in communicating effectively with both students and educators. This role is crucial in fostering a positive learning environment and assisting teachers in delivering quality education.
Duties
- Assist the lead teacher in planning and implementing educational activities tailored to the needs of students.
- Support children with special educational needs, including those on the autism spectrum, by providing individualised attention and encouragement.
- Help maintain a safe and engaging classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and parents to ensure a collaborative approach to education.
- Supervise children during playtime, ensuring their safety and promoting positive interactions among peers.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as record keeping, preparing teaching materials, and maintaining classroom supplies.
- Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance skills related to child education and special educational needs training.
Requirements
- Previous experience working with children or special educational needs is essential
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with children, parents, and staff members.
- Knowledge or experience in special education practices is an advantage.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also being able to take initiative when required.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for educating young learners.
- Flexibility to adapt to the varying needs of students throughout the school day.
