SEN Teaching Assistant

We are looking for an SEN Teaching Assistant to help support pupils who need additional support in their learning and development. The successful candidate will have an extensive skills set in supporting those with needs closely linked to speech and language, fine motor skills, behaviour management, social and emotional well-being as well support their learning in the classroom.

SEN Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Assist with learning and development of children and young people during their activity and interest led learning
  • Lead individual/small groups of children in learning activities such as sensory play, communication techniques and promote independence as well as creative and tactile physical learning.
  • Support children with their independence and confidence both inside and outside of the classroom on a 1:1 basis
  • Be the support for children and young people with additional needs and who can also struggle with communication and social environments
  • Support the children's social, emotional and physical development by creating a safe environment for learning with the use of strong behaviour management skills.

SEN Teaching Assistant Non-Negotiables:

  • Must have recent and relevant experience working with those that need additional support, and be available to give personal care
  • Must have some experience or a passion to work with those who have SEN and SEMH needs and be able to handle challenging behaviours.
  • A valid Enhanced DBS or the willingness to apply for a new one
  • Two professional references
  • Right to Work full-time in the UK
