SEN Teaching Assistant

Job Description:

NextGen teachers are looking for an SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children with Special Educational Needs as well as have a strong knowledge of the EYFS framework.

Requirements:

  • A Level 2 qualification in childcare is advantageous
  • Familiarity with British sign language or makaton
  • Previous experience working with SEN children
  • Previous childcare experience
  • Strong communication skills to confer with parents and staff
  • The ability to support a classroom of children with their social, emotional and physical development

Roles:

  • Provide individualised support to children with Special Educational Needs
  • Implement strategies to enhance communication skills among children, adapting techniques to suit individual needs.
  • Monitor and document the progress of each child, providing feedback to parents and team members regularly.
  • Create a safe and inclusive environment that encourages exploration and learning through play.
