SEN Teaching Assistant

Job description

NextGen Teachers are currently recruiting on behalf of an SEN school based in Leeds. The school is a full SEN provision, which caters for children from aged 4 to 16 formal, semi-formal and informal settings. The children follow part of the curriculum, but a main focus in the school is sensory play. Therefore, the ideal candidate will have a creative and empathetic nature, as well as a strong knowledge of children's development. As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting children with a range of learning difficulties, disabilities, and special educational needs. You will work closely with teachers and other professionals to ensure that each child receives the tailored support they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

This role will be a permanent contract, starting in September on a full time basis.

Requirements for SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • A passion for working with children
  • Experience working with children, preferably with SEN experience
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to adapt to individual student needs
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a team
  • The Right to Work in the UK
  • An enhanced child DBS on the update service (or willingness to complete one)
  • Experience working with children with SEN needs
  • Two professional references
