We are currently looking for a compassionate and dedicated SEND Teacher to join a well-established school in the Leeds LS10 area. This rewarding role is available immediately, with the contract running from December 2024 to Easter 2025. The position is full-time, with hours from 8.30 AM to 3.45 PM, Monday to Friday.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to the needs of students with PMLD.
  • Provide differentiated support and maintain a high level of care for each student.
  • Collaborate with a team of teaching assistants and therapists to implement effective individual education plans (IEPs).
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular feedback to parents and carers.
  • Foster a positive, supportive classroom environment that encourages student growth, confidence, and independence.
  • Promote inclusion and diversity, creating opportunities for all students to thrive in a safe and nurturing space.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Experience working in SEND settings, specifically with PMLD students.
  • A genuine passion for working with children who have complex needs.
  • Strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and relevant safeguarding policies.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage with students, staff, and parents.
  • Active DBS on the update service.
  • A patient, empathetic, and flexible approach to teaching.
  • Implement effective speech and language strategies to support student communication.
  • Lead and manage staff effectively to ensure a collaborative approach to teaching and learning.
  • Demonstrate strong skills in curriculum planning, adapting learning materials to meet individual needs.
  • Manage behaviour effectively, using positive strategies to support students.
  • Have a thorough understanding of students with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, and complex communication challenges.
  • Lead multi-sensory teaching approaches to support diverse learning styles.
  • Possess experience with moving and handling and supporting students with complex medical needs.
