About the Role

We are seeking a committed and experienced SEND Teacher to join a specialist SEN setting in Leeds, working with students who have complex ASD needs. This is a nurturing environment that prioritises personalised learning and vocational development, ensuring every learner has the support needed to thrive.

Requirements
  • Relevant teaching qualification (e.g., QTS, PGCE, or equivalent) with SEND specialisation or experience.
  • Proven experience working with ASD learners in a nurturing or SEN environment.
  • Strong understanding of strategies and interventions to support complex needs, including communication and sensory approaches.
  • Vocational skills experience or a willingness to support vocational development is highly advantageous.
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).
Responsibilities
  • Plan, deliver, and adapt engaging lessons tailored to meet the needs of complex ASD learners.
  • Foster a nurturing and structured environment that promotes emotional and social development.
  • Support the development of vocational skills to prepare learners for future independence.
  • Work collaboratively with support staff, parents, and other professionals to create and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Monitor and assess progress, maintaining accurate records and providing feedback to stakeholders.
  • Promote positive behaviour management strategies in line with the school's ethos.
