Category Lead - Technology ProcurementHere at Hays, we are working with a leading brand based in Leeds to recruit for a Category Lead who will be responsible for the acquisition of all indirect goods and services within the Technology category. This role aims to maximise financial and commercial benefits from a Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) perspective, ensuring compliance with the company's procurement policies and processes. Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Technology to ensure the on-time delivery of key strategic and operational initiatives.
  • Identify and mitigate commercial risks.
  • Advise and support Technology budget holders on supplier strategy, sourcing options, and commercial models.
  • Lead and execute procurement activities such as market analysis, benchmarking, and competitive tenders.
  • Develop, own, and manage specific RFPs and associated procurement processes.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with Technology colleagues and key suppliers.
  • Support Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) across the technology supplier base.
  • Collaborate with other members of the Procurement team.
  • Undertake additional projects as required by the Procurement Manager.

Experience required for the role

  • Excellent stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong background in technology procurement with additional experience in non-technology sourcing.
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and presentation skills.
  • Robust understanding of contract law, including SaaS-based contracts.
  • Effective time management and organisational skills.
  • Strong understanding of key technology categories and market influences.

Looking to speak to candidates with extensive experience in leading and managing project teams, the candidate excels at influencing senior technology stakeholders. They possess robust commercial awareness, strong business acumen, and analytical thinking skills, enabling them to make clear recommendations and effectively respond to challenges. You will be customer focused with a proven ability to build relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders. Essential Experience & Skills:

  • MCIPS Qualified.
  • Experience in technology procurement, including tier 1 vendors.
  • Experience managing outsourced relationships.
  • Strong understanding of contract law (including SaaS contracts).
  • Demonstrable experience in leading projects and collaborating proactively with stakeholders.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Proven negotiation skills.

This is a hybrid role that requires 3 days a week on site in Leeds, with a competitive salary and good benefits.
