Purchasing Manager required by Strachan Furniture Makers Ltd. Leeds, West Yorkshire.

The Company:

For four generations, the Strachan family has been designing, manufacturing and installing luxury bespoke fitted furniture for discerning clients throughout the UK.

The company is seeking to appoint an experienced Purchasing Manager to join our well established manufacturing and retail business.

The Role:

Reporting to the Commercial Manager, then the Managing Director, the main focus of this exciting role is to:

  • Manage and develop our purchasing function.
  • Maintain and develop a cost effective, stable quality supply chain.
  • Ensure materials and products are purchased on a timely basis to meet delivery schedules.
  • Ensure the quality of materials and products purchased meet company quality standards and resolve any non compliance.
  • Liaise and support internal design and customer service teams.
  • Seek opportunities for material and product improvements with the design team and senior management.

Skills and Experience:

  • Educated to Degree standard with a formal qualification in supply chain management, business administration or finance.
  • Experienced as a senior buyer or purchasing manager with strong commercial awareness.
  • Ideally with extensive knowledge of the furniture industry supply chain.
  • Ability to negotiate and manage suppliers, travelling abroad when required.
  • Ability to gather and analyse data with strong decision making skills.
  • An excellent communicator with colleagues and team player.
  • Able to learn quickly from our training and support programmes to gain our existing product knowledge and methods of working.
  • Ambitious to progress own career and be suitably rewarded in both financial and career progression.
