I am currently recruiting for an experienced SEND Teacher to work in a specialist school.

This specialist school in the West Yorkshire area prides itself on delivering high-quality education to learners with ASD and PMLD needs. By placing learners and staff at the heart of everything they do, they are able to create a nurturing and inclusive environment where everyone can thrive.

The ideal SEND Teacher will have experience working with learners who have autism, be able to effectively implement speech and language strategies, manage behaviour and lead engaging lessons that incorporate multi sensory activities and active learning.

Experience of moving and handling is essential in addition to being able to deal with complex medical needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Proven experience working with SEND learners, particularly those with ASD and PMLD..
  • Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Excellent behaviour management skills.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback and support as needed.
  • Moving and handling experience and the ability to deal with complex medical needs
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement effective teaching strategies.
  • Good understanding of complex communication needs
  • Adaptable and approachable to meet diverse learning needs
  • Ability to carry out personal care as and when required
  • Emotionally resilient with a positive attitude
