The Role:
As a Transport Planner, you'll be at the heart of our operations, ensuring the efficient movement of goods across the UK. You will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing the daily routing of vehicles to maximise efficiency and minimise costs. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring that deliveries are completed on time, customers are satisfied, and our fleet operates smoothly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Daily Planning & Scheduling: Develop and implement efficient transport plans to meet customer delivery requirements. You'll ensure that all routes are optimised for time and cost-effectiveness.
- Driver Coordination: Communicate with drivers throughout the day to manage schedules, monitor progress, and adjust plans as necessary in response to traffic, delays, or customer changes.
- Client Liaison: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring their requirements are met and any issues are resolved quickly and professionally.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure all transport activities adhere to legal regulations, company policies, and health & safety standards. This includes maintaining accurate records of vehicle maintenance, driver hours, and any incidents.
- Problem Solving: Quickly respond to operational issues, such as route delays, vehicle breakdowns, or changes in customer demand, with solutions that keep the business moving.
- Cost Control: Continually assess transport routes and performance to identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising service quality.
What You'll Bring:
- Proven Experience: You will have previous experience working in a Transport Planner role, with a solid understanding of transport operations and route planning.
- Geographical Knowledge: You'll need strong knowledge of the UK road network, particularly around Leeds and the surrounding areas, to make smart routing decisions.
- Strong Communication Skills: The ability to manage multiple stakeholders - from drivers to customers - with clear and effective communication.
- Attention to Detail: You'll be someone who doesn't miss a thing, ensuring that every aspect of the transport process is carefully managed.
- Tech-Savvy: Experience using transport planning software and systems will be highly advantageous.
