We are delighted to be working with a local general haulage business, who are seeking to add to their transport team due to increased demand for their services. They pride themselves on the quality service they can offer all of their clients and as a result have won several new contracts this year to distribute throughout the UK.
The Role Transport Planner
This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious Transport Planner to join a great team of 3 planners. If you enjoy the fast-paced demanding environment of the transport office, and excel in providing outstanding communication and analysis, then this could be the role for you.
Other Responsibilities include:
- Planning for whole of the UK network.
- Network optimisation of existing and potential contracts.
- Negotiating backhauls, identifying trusted logistics partners
- Identifying projects in the transport operation and carrying out these projects to a high standard. Ultimately improving the efficiency and quality of the operation in all areas.
- Re-adjusting routes and communicating with all parties.
- Been a secondary point of contact for clients and drivers in the transport office.
- Producing tachograph analysis.
- Producing reports on transport efficiencies for the Directors.
Working Hours
Monday to Friday 40 hrs a week. Typically between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00.
The Skills Required
The ideal candidate will have performed already in a Transport Planner role before for another general haulage operation. They will also have skills and experiences clearly demonstrated in their CV in the following:
- Minimum of 2 years Transport planning experience
- Experience in General Haulage is advantageous
- Knowledge of manual transport planning
- Backhaul experience ideal
- The ability to think commercially
- Excellent UK geographical transport knowledge
- Commutable daily to Leeds/Bradford Airport
- Excellent customer service skills
- A significant understanding of road logistics
- Excellent MS Excel skills
- Very computer literate.
- The ambition and ability to work at a higher level.
