Job Role
Reporting to the Transport Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining VLTs HGVs and enhancing the performance of our vehicle fleet. As an integral part of our operation, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining various vehicles to ensure they meet safety and performance standards.
Responsibilities
- You will maintain our mixed fleet of rigid and articulated vehicles and trailers to the highest standard and in line with DVSA requirements
- Vehicle and Trailer inspections
- MOT preparation to DVSA standards
- Brake testing at every inspection
- Fault finding and repairs
- Completion of all relevant paperwork ensuring that all work undertaken is compliant
- Use of diagnostic equipment
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
Essential:
- Qualification in City and Guilds HGV Part 1, 2 & 3 or NVQ level 3 equivalent
- A minimum of 3 years experience as an HGV Mechanic (post qualification) preferably within a fleet environment
- Large Goods Vehicle experience is essential
- Advanced in Microsoft Office
- Must have the "can do" attitude
- Flexible approach to work
- Fantastic Health & Safety standards
- Excellent verbal and written English and Numeracy
- An excellent customer facing and communicational skills
- Excellent time-keeping skills
Desirable:
- HGV Licence Class 1
- IRTEC Registered for both traction and trailers
