Gleeson Recruitment Group are working exclusively in partnership with a highly acquisitive business in Nottinghamshire, who are looking to appoint a Group Accountant in a newly-created position.

This person will oversee the accurate and timely preparation of financial reports and statements. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, maintaining financial integrity, and providing insightful analysis to support decision-making. If you have a strong background in financial reporting, and a passion for driving excellence, this could be the role for you.

Key responsibilities for the Group Accountant role:

  • Lead the technical accounting function, including researching and interpreting complex accounting standards (GAAP, IFRS) and assessing their impact on financial reporting and business operations.
  • Provide guidance and support on accounting treatment for significant transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, investments, and divestitures.
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures in accordance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Lead the implementation of new accounting standards and ensure timely adoption across the organisation.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to assess the accounting implications of new business initiatives and strategic projects.
  • Review financial statements and disclosures to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Support external audits and regulatory examinations by providing technical accounting expertise and documentation.

Qualifications and requirements of the position:

  • Must be either ACA or ACCA qualified
  • Proven experience in technical accounting
  • Strong understanding of IFRS16, with the ability to apply technical accounting principles to complex business transactions.
  • Experience with private equity-backed companies and familiarity with relevant accounting issues and considerations.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to research and interpret accounting guidance effectively.
  • Proven ability to communicate complex accounting concepts clearly and concisely to non-accounting stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities with the ability to collaborate effectively across functional teams.
