Faculty / Directorate
Library and Student Services (LSS) is responsible for providing a wide and diverse range of services to all our students including Student Welfare, Careers & Employability, Digital Skills, Global Mobility and Learning Development and Support.
The Library Services team plays a lead role in the delivery of the directorate’s customer services (in person, online and via telephone), the day-to-day management of our learning spaces and the loan of the physical stock.
Our main Kimberlin Library is busy and vibrant, with extensive opening hours to support our diverse student body. This is an exciting time to join the directorate as we continue to develop our services and accommodation to enhance the student experience.
Role
This role is based in the library at De Montfort University - in the middle of our vibrant Leicester city-centre campus. You will be an integral support to our diverse customers getting the most from their use of our library; providing practical help and guidance in a friendly way, in our busy study spaces.
You may not have considered working in a library before, but if you are interested in delivering outstanding customer experience and providing a positive user experience to our diverse staff, students and visitors, then this is the role for you. You will receive full training on the day-to-day operation of the library and the tools needed to support students in navigating our collections, using our facilities and accessing our services.
Ideal Candidate
You will have a passion for delivering exceptional customer service, enjoy working with young adults and have first-class conversation skills. You will be proactive, self-motivated, well organised and be a great communicator, bringing a strong rapport and a warm smile to our role. Hours - 4 hours a week, working 5pm - 9pm (Wednesday), 33 weeks of the year.
