Job Description

Duration: 12 month contract 

Main Purpose of Role

  • To carry out the routine testing and administration relating to the assessment of consumer products within the Department without supervision.  This is an essential role in order to maintain sample workflow to meet customer deadlines.
  • Carry out calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment. This is essential to ensure repeatability and accuracy in sample testing.
  • To apply and maintain the Quality Management System.
  • To support book-in for testing samples
  • To prepare samples for testing within the Chemistry Department

Qualifications

Essential

  • GCSE or equivalent in Maths, Science and English or other relevant experience.
  • Previous experience of a science related area of work.
  • Effective working knowledge of Windows associated packages (MS Office etc)

Desirable

  • Familiarization with UKAS accreditation.
  • Experience in preparing samples within a Hardlines Laboratory
  • Previous mechanical testing or laboratory testing experience
  • Worked within the toy/nursery industry with focus on product safety
