If this sounds like you, we have an excellent opportunity on offer. It is expected the successful candidate will have had some experience in working within the residential mortgage industry. The opportunity will focus on effectively sourcing and managing mortgage intermediary relationships and working closely with the Business Development and Marketing Manager and the Telephone Business Development Manager.You will effectively promote and communicate the esbs lending criteria and proposition whilst impressing with the highest levels of service.

This role is full time, 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday with some Saturday morning on-call hours required. This is a predominantly Midlands based role.

Key responsibilities & experience required

Obtain new business by contacting and developing existing and potential new intermediaries and customers

You would be expected to be visiting brokers four days each week, with one day in the office/home (as agreed) for administration and appointment making purposes

Attendance at broker network and mortgage club events

Work in conjunction with the Business Development and Marketing Manager and the Telephone Business Development Manager to maximise growth ensuring an agreed strategy is in place to meet corporate objectives

Proactively source firms/brokers with potential to submit quality mortgage business

Act on opportunities provided by the Business Development and Marketing Manager and other esbs colleagues and those firms contacting esbs, and those registering with the Society

To assist brokers with new business enquires with a view to converting these opportunities to new applications

Maintain accurate records of all interactions with brokers and providing monthly MI

Feedback market information and recommend areas for improvement where appropriate

Being an ambassador for the business and promoting the Societys values

Ensuring key contacts are aware of USPs and any changes in criteria and products

Develop and maintain an excellent relationship with all internal departments, especially the intermediary mortgage team

Plan and organise own workload to ensure personal and esbs corporate objectives are met

Take responsibility for personal development, identifying and pursuing opportunities where appropriate to maintain and develop expertise

Be part of the project team for enhancements of the broker online application submission system

Deputising for the Business Development & Marketing Manager in their absence

Savings You will also be responsible for developing relationships with key businesses to assist the Society in growing its retail savings balances, and working with the Savings Team to achieve this

About you

The ideal candidate will have the following attributes:

Be CeMAP qualified, or willing to work to achieve this within an agreed timescale (support to be provided as agreed)

Four GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade C and above including Maths and English

Full driving licence (endorsements to be disclosed)

Must have an excellent manner and time management skills

Experience of working in a BDM role within the residential mortgage industry but we can consider someone eagerly looking for their first BDM role provided they have relevant experience within the residential mortgage industry

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with both internal and external stakeholders

Capability to use Microsoft based operating systems

Excellent organisation skills and an ability to prioritise

Ability to provide MI on key risk metrics

Understanding of the financial services regulatory environment including mortgage regulation
