Be Part of the UK's Low-Carbon Energy Revolution

Are you a Process Engineer with expertise in modelling, flow assurance, or a deep technical understanding of CO2 and hydrogen at high pressure? Do you want to work on cutting-edge infrastructure projects that are leading the way in energy transition?

We’re recruiting on behalf of an innovative engineering company owned by National Gas, operating within its unregulated business arm. This offers a rare opportunity to work not just with National Gas, but also with gas distribution networks (SGN, NGN, Cadent, WWU) and leading energy developers across the UK.

Sites in Leicester, Ruddington and Warrington.

The Opportunity:

As a Process Engineer, you’ll be part of a team developing and delivering complex, future-ready gas infrastructure projects. Your role will focus on:

  • Process modelling and simulation for hydrogen and CO2 systems

  • Flow assurance and performance optimisation in high-pressure pipeline and plant environments

  • Providing process input across design, FEED, and commissioning phases

  • Supporting safety studies, including HAZOPs, FPSAs, and risk assessments

  • Offering subject matter expertise on novel gas behaviours under varying pressure, temperature, and phase conditions

Projects You Could Support:
  • Project Union – Repurposing segments of the UK’s transmission system to carry 100% hydrogen

  • Project Acorn – Delivering the SCO2T Connect pipeline for high-pressure CO2 transportation and long-term carbon storage

  • Contributions to RIIO2 and RIIO3 programmes, with confirmed work through RIIO3 and input into the RIIO4 strategy (2021–2036)

Ideal Background:
  • Degree in Chemical/Process Engineering or equivalent

  • Strong experience in process modelling tools (e.g., HYSYS, Aspen, OLGA, Pipesim)

  • Knowledge of flow assurance, particularly involving CO2 and hydrogen at high pressures

  • Understanding of multiphase flow, transient behaviour, and gas thermodynamics

  • A collaborative mindset with the confidence to challenge and innovate in a safety-led environment

Why Join?
  • Work on pioneering energy projects that directly support UK Net Zero targets

  • Engage with regulated and unregulated markets across diverse client portfolios

  • Be part of a technically excellent team shaping the future of gas transmission and distribution

  • Enjoy flexible working and opportunities for growth across a guaranteed long-term project pipeline
