Programmer/Setter - Multi 5 Axis (Turner)

Plymouth, South West - Relocation Package available

DK recruitment are working with a well-established Precision Manufacturer who work within Aerospace, Civils and defence industries. Working for a world-renowned manufacturer in a wide variety of applications and sectors.

The CNC Offline Programmer will be required to work with Multi Axis Turning machines and Mill Turn Machinery.

You will need a strong background in CNC Machining, Particularly with Multi Axis machines, including a 5 Axis Turning Machines.
You will be required to adept efficiently by programming and setting up these processes ready from the introduction and production of new products.

To manage new machines being brought in, from buying, selecting software and training staff.

Using specialist machines to produce low volume, high complex, specialist parts.

Main Duties:

  • Program CNC machines using various control platforms including, Fanuc, Siemens and more.
  • Program optimisation and refinement.
  • Familiar with CAD and CAM packages.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • As part of program proofing, perform quality checks and ensure parts meet specifications.
  • Work holding design, tooling design, specifying correct tooling, quotes and procurement.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any machining issues.
  • Collaborate with team members to improve processes and production efficiency.
  • Collaborate on purchase of new technologies and additional equipment to expand capabilities in line with new product future road map.

Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience as a CNC setter/programmer, specifically with multi-axis turning machines.
  • Proficient in reading technical drawings and using measurement tools preferably with relevant qualifications, e.g. apprenticeship, time served, technical level training.
  • Experience in set up and operate multi-axis CNC turning machines.
  • Knowledge of CNC programming languages (e.g., G-code).
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

The role is flexible so could be days and occasional shifts or rotating shifts so premium would apply.
