The Assistant Project Manager / Pre-Construction Coordinator Role

Based in Leicester they have an exciting opportunityfor an Assistant Project Manager to join their growing Pre-Construction team. They are seeking an experienced post-graduate who specializes in construction, and in particular interior fit-out and refurbishment.

This role would be ideally suited to a Construction Graduate with 1 to 2 years post-graduation experience who is looking for any opportunity to develop their career on projects in an interesting and exciting sector of the industry.

In addition the role will involve construction planning and will include the full range of programme management skills in providing scheduling, planning, advice and the development of the relevant schedules with the following aspects of the development. It would therefore be highly beneficial if you have 12 months experience using relevant planning software such as ASTA Powerproject, Microsoft Project or Primavera.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Manage, update and maintain HUB; the EE Smith bespoke live Project software.

Study and understand tender documentation, attend Tender Design Team Meetings convened by the estimator and contribute to the tender design process through innovative ideas, experience and materials/methods research.

Manage and review the design development process ensuring value engineering & buildability are considered at all stages.

Convene and chair Design Team meetings and ensure an appropriate record of action points is recorded, distributed and monitored to a conclusion.

Attend site meetings on behalf of the company and record all appropriate matters, including focus on samples, design matters (RFI/Hold points) and programme.

Agree the extent of and manage the release of information to the client team for sign off/approval purposes.

To ensure timely completion and issue of technical assessments, CfSH/BREEAM information, warranties, certificates and the like.

Work with the Design Management/Lead Draughtsman (CAD-Technicians) to set up, monitor and maintain a Drawing Tracker that incorporates relevant design, samples and programme and/or information required schedule (IRS) as appropriate.

Assist in the preparation, approval and distribution of the Health and Safety File/Operating and Maintenance Manual.

Any other duties needed to ensure the full discharge of duties responsibly requested by your Manager.

Work in a safe manner following Company Procedures, 14001 Environmental, 9001 Quality and Statutory H&S Regulations.

The Successful Assistant Project Manager / Pre-Construction Coordinator:

Excellent organisational skills.

Experience within the Construction industry.

An in-depth understanding of a variety of construction materials, including their properties & capabilities.

The ability to communicate effectively through all levels of the Project structures, from supply chain to client.

Computer literate.

Enjoy problem solving & finding solutions to unique scenarios.

Good time management and ability to multi-task.

High degree of numeracy, literacy and attention to detail.

Able to make decisions within authority.

Able to lead and work as a team member.

Strives for continuous improvement for the benefit of the company.
