Our client is a well-established and growing multi-disciplined surveying consultancy that provides specialist services to the education sector. They are seeking an experienced and proactive Principal Designer to join their team, based from their Leicester office.

The Principal Designer will be a key member of the team, acting as the primary contact between clients, designers, and contractors on health and safety matters. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with CDM regulations and manage health and safety considerations for both new-build and refurbishment education projects.

Principal Designer Job Overview

  • Liaising with clients, contractors, Building Surveyors, architects, and other stakeholders to provide advice and guidance on CDM and health and safety issues.
  • Preparing and managing health and safety/CDM documentation, including Health and Safety Files for clients and contractors.
  • Collaborating with colleagues to ensure seamless communication and resolution of issues on projects.
  • Attending pre-contract and site meetings, as well as conducting independent health and safety site audits/inspections.
  • Coordinating project health and safety information to ensure compliance with regulations and best practices.
  • Supporting project management duties where required.

Principal Designer Job Requirements

  • Minimum 3-4 years of experience in a similar role.
  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent/higher qualification.
  • Relevant HNC, HND, BSc, or MSc (or equivalent) in a construction-related discipline.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation and CDM regulations.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Living within commuting distance of Leicester and willing to travel as required.

Principal Designer Salary & Benefits
