We are seeking an Area Supervisor to join our team, focusing on REUSE and recycling initiatives. This role is crucial in diverting waste from landfill and disposal routes into reuse. The successful candidate will be passionate about the environment and have a hands-on approach to supervising site staff, ensuring effective communication and training to identify materials for reuse.
Day to Day of the Role:- Travel to the Council’s RHWSs and WTSs daily to undertake HR-related tasks.
- Deliver training through workbooks and e-learning, develop and deliver toolbox talks, and other training packages/safety briefings.
- Monitor and enforce the Council’s safe systems of work and risk assessments for all site operations.
- Ensure records for waste movements are accurate and appropriately filed.
- Monitor and enforce the Council’s Quality Management System for processes at the RHWSs.
- Issue, monitor, and record PPE and uniforms to staff.
- Handle low-level complaints from customers face to face, by telephone, and by email.
- Supervise site staff across all the Council’s waste sites, with mandatory weekend work.
- Good IT, interpersonal, numeracy, and literacy skills.
- Experience dealing with customers and line managing multiple staff.
- Experience delivering training packages.
- Valid UK driver’s licence for driving up to a 3.5-tonne vehicle, access to own vehicle, and insurance to cover business use.
- Valid and relevant Certificate of Technical Competence with evidence of continued competence.
- Experience driving a vehicle up to 3.5 tonnes.
