Adecco are recruiting for an Assurance Officer to join Leicestershire Police Force.
You would be base ed at their Force HQ in Enderby, working Monday - Friday full time. This role would be a 12 month contract initially with the possibility of extension. The rate is £17.79 per hour.
The role: To manage the independent scrutiny functions of the The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) including the Independent Custody Visiting Scheme, AWS and other scrutiny panels effectively and efficiently ensuring the scheme delivers the statutory function of the Police and Crime Commissioner. To support the Performance and Assurance team in holding the force to account in their provision of an effective and efficient police service.
Essential Criteria:
- Educated to degree level in a relevant field or must be able to demonstrate experience in an assurance or research environment where it has been necessary to facilitate scrutiny and assurance panels.
- Have a working knowledge of IT software including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Have recent experience of correspondence management and report writing which has required researching complex issues and liaison with others in order to make recommendations for action or to provide a full and accurate response.
- Provide support to the Commissioner and OPCC on performance and assurance matters by having the ability to analyse and present information in a range of formats and an ability to interpret policy, reports, research etc. and advise on specific issues, ensuring exposure to risk is highlighted.
- Demonstrate high levels of self-motivation and experience of working with minimum supervision, managing own workload and using initiative to resolve issues.
- Demonstrate ability to identify areas for improvement in the interests of efficiency and effectiveness, including processes and procedures and implementing any such proposals
Core Responsibilities:
- Manage and lead the independent scrutiny function of the OPCC, reporting into SMT and the Director of Governance and Performance on a regular basis.
- Develop and amend policies and procedures as necessary, reviewing on an annual basis and overseeing all aspects of scrutiny functions.
- Develop relationships with volunteers and panel members to ensure the smooth running of the scrutiny functions and to maintain individual's motivation and commitment to the roles.
- Develop and monitor annual objectives and targets for the functions, reporting to the Ethics Panel and SMT at key points throughout the year.
- Undertake all recruitment and deliver a training programme at appropriate times following agreed procedures.
- Attend all supporting and supplementary meetings to assist in the management of this function.
- Support the Chief Finance Officer in undertaking the day to day management of risk including maintaining the OPCC risk register, regular reporting to the Senior Management Team and Joint Audit, Risk and Assurance Panel, drafting appropriate policy and guidance and undertaking risk assessments as appropriate.
