?? About the Role:As a Front-End Maintainer/Operator, you will work with cutting-edge vertical and horizontal can-making power press equipment (cupping presses & bodymakers). Your responsibilities include:
- Maintaining production quality standards.
- Ensuring maximum machine efficiency and minimal spoilage.
- Making process and tooling adjustments.
- Monitoring and recording production data.
- Troubleshooting machinery and delivering planned preventive maintenance.
- Upholding high standards of housekeeping.
?? Ideal Candidate:
We're seeking candidates with hands-on engineering knowledge and problem-solving ability. To excel in this role, you will:
- Know what a 4-jaw chuck is and how it operates.
- Be prepared for practical assessments, including a slip gauge test, pneumatics test, conveyor test, and fault-finding exercise.
- Have a Mechanical/Maintenance Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent (Grade B candidates).
- Demonstrate proven production/engineering experience (Grades C & D considered with varying qualifications and experience).
- Possess knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and metrology tools.
- Show attention to detail, teamwork, and a results-driven mindset.
We are looking for candidates across three entry levels, depending on your qualifications and experience:
- Grade B (£53,820.76/year): Qualified with a Mechanical/Maintenance Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent and relevant production/engineering experience.
- Grade C (£48,539.49/year): Relevant production/engineering experience without formal qualifications.
- Grade D (£44,229.04/year): Some production/engineering experience, possibly from hands-on hobbies (e.g., working on cars), and a strong trainability potential.
Skills & Experience:
- Mechanical/Maintenance Engineering apprenticeship or ONC/HNC equivalent (Grade B).
- Proven experience in production engineering roles (preferably with power presses).
- Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and metrology tools.
- Attention to detail, team-oriented mindset, and drive to achieve production targets.
Work Schedule:
- Continental shifts: 2 x 12-hour days, 2 x 12-hour nights, followed by 4 days off. 5 x during the year, aligned with holidays there are 15 days off. Full year shift rota available to discuss.
