Empowering Learning are delighted to be working with a school in the LE3 area. The school are looking to appoint a teaching assistant to work within their KS1 team. The role will be full time and based on a fixed term contract until July 2025. This role could become permanent for the right person

The successful applicant will have:

  • Previous experience of working within KS1
  • An understanding of phonics and how its delivered in primary schools
  • An approachable personality to both staff and pupils
  • A passion for all things education
  • A high work-ethic with a passion for helping children to succeed
  • Past experience of delivering intervention sessions
  • The ability to support pupils with SEN

The main duties within the role will be:

  • Delivering academic interventions to pupils working below age expected levels
  • Delivering phonics sessions using ReadWriteInc every day
  • Supporting the teaching and learning within the classroom
  • Working on a 1:1 basis with pupils who present with additional needs
  • Liaising with the class teacher around progress of the pupils
  • Running guided reading sessions two times per week
