The Company:

Our client is a systems integrator specializing in control systems for rotating plant equipment. They have been around for over 40 years and are synonymous with quality within markets including power generation, oil and gas and waste incineration.

With a team 30 staff strong, they use their specialist skills to design and assemble tailored solutions that integrate hardware PLCs with electrical panels, providing end-users with modern, effective systems as older software becomes obsolete.

Due to growth and continuous increasing workload, they are looking for an experienced and hard-working Electrical Design Engineer to join their 12 strong Design team.

The Role:

As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for completing all the electrical work across each project.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Producing electrical drawings – schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, control panel layouts
  • Creating the I/O Schedule for systems
  • 90% of the PLCs they use on projects are RS Logix Hardware
  • Designing the system needed to connect the plc from a hardware POV – what instrument and what specification of instrumentation will be needed
  • Working out what current the system needs to pull and wire sizes needed
  • Cable sizing calculations
  • Sizing circuit breakers
  • Producing test specifications
  • Overseeing testing of control panels

Though this role is 80% office based, this could also be a huge opportunity for those Electrical Design Engineers who enjoy travel to add up to £20k on their basic salary with travel to client sites across the globe.

What We're Looking For:

The successful Electrical Design Engineer will need:

  • Previous experience of working as an Electrical Design Engineer
  • Knowledge of the power side of electrical design – instrumentation experience would also be hugely beneficial
  • Any CAD package is acceptable – AutoCAD Electrical would be beneficial
  • Recognised electrical qualification
  • Keen to learn
  • Personable
  • A background in electrical engineering or a related field, ideally with an HND or university qualification.

The Benefits:

In return, the Electrical Design Engineer will enjoy in return:

  • Basic salary £35,000 – 45,000
  • Paid overtime – ability to earn up to c£20k on top of basic salary
  • Early finish Friday
