Specifications Technologist

We are seeking a Specification's Technologist to join our client's Technical Department. This role is crucial for maintaining high standards of food safety and compliance with BRC standards. The ideal candidate will use their technical knowledge and management skills to oversee site specifications, manage supplier certifications, and ensure all technical information is accurate and up-to-date.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Coordinate all specifications for Raw Materials, Work in Progress, and Finished Goods.
  • Continually review and audit documentation for all Raw Materials and Finished Goods ensuring all are completed and signed.
  • Conduct risk assessments of raw materials and the supply chain.
  • Ensure customers receive all required technical information including questionnaires, specifications, and certificates of analysis.
  • Monitor and update the complaints database, managing customer and supplier complaints.
  • Report to the Quality Manager in monthly meetings regarding supplier, internal, and customer complaints.
  • Manage environmental testing including water, swabbing, allergens, and results analysis.
  • Oversee supplier approval systems and raw material risks database.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant systems.
  • Ability to influence others to adhere to correct procedures.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interpret written and numerical data.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to identify and implement technical improvements.
  • Trained in Food Safety and Health and Safety.
  • Extensive experience in food manufacturing processes and quality control.
  • Understanding of product allergens.
